Hello to all my dedicated readers. If there is anyone reading this in the first place... Am just waiting for epi 18 of heroes to get done with so decided to kill some time (knowing well enough that I should be studying, dammit how will I ever make it at this rate!??)
Went to church just this past Saturday, as I always do. Decided to go to the Church of the Divine Mercy as mass was earlier so it would enable me to catch the oh so awesome Man. Utd. beat Liverfool's ass in Anfield. Poor sods had to sing 'you'll never walk alone' after dominating most of the game. What a beautiful sport this is! (esp. when you beat title pretenders!)
So as I was saying, went for mass, the church is beautiful and its air-conditioned! And the priest 'was' good, until he decided to make his sermon into some political speech. I think he's trying to keep up with Fr. O.C. Lim. But that's gonna take a bit of doing!
He started talking about all this Free Trade Area and what not with the US. Started encouraging us to write against it and all. I mean is it necessary? Do we really want to start getting involved in all this? What ever happened to praying for peace and all? Praying for leaders to be able to decide whats best for us? Is it necessary to take all this political agenda's into the house of God? We come there to get away from all this, not to be dragged into this!!
I really think priest's must now the impact they have on society when they take on such sensitive issues. Fr. O.C. Lim takes things to another level. Using Muslim words and embedding them into our prayers, what for?! I wish he would read this. I am sure I am not the only one disgusted by this behaviour. We portray what our God is. By doing such things, are we portraying our God to be one of hatred towards another man's religion and race? I bet you these priests will say they never said anything that meant it in that way. But the problem is people tend to misinterpret these things, especially when it is said at such sensitive times.
If it does not drive parishioners away, it will instigate them wit hatred and anger towards men or other religious beliefs. Do we really want this now? At this age and time? I think not. I plead and pray that these priests behave more 'priestly' and thread with caution when it comes to such sensitive issues such as religion and race. We are a young community, easily influenced by what is said and what we see. And those who are to shape us into future leaders on our country please shape us well.
