Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll

You know how they say that the sixties (or was it the 70's) were all about sex, drugs and rock & roll? Well, they obviously never went to study in manipal. Don't get me wrong, I learnt a lot during the last 5 years, but if there is one thing I wish was different, it has to be the mentality. I don't know how it is in other medical colleges, I'm guessing its pretty much the same.

It's sad though when you think about it, all the cliques and circles that tend to exist. The bickering and backstabbing that goes on, not only among cliques but also within them. I wonder how they will all feel 25 years down the line. When hopefully they have matured and look back. I wonder if they would feel ashamed of how things were at that point in time.

This is not a hate post or a post to get revenge. For all I know I was in one of those cliques although I never saw it that way. But you never do when you're in one. I had a good time during the last 5 years. Managed to squeeze studying in as well! But still, there has to be a system, a way that prevents the 'bad apples' from slipping through the system. Sadly this lacks, if its this bad now, I can only imagine how it was and how its going to be in the years to come.

I guess its human nature, to experiment, to be 'different', to go against the rules, to do crazy things. I'm sure adolescents the world over in whatever it is that they may be pursuing do the same things. I just feel sorry for the outcast, those without cliques, those so called 'nerds' who I feel are labelled such simply because the 'cool' ones feel stupid when compared to them.

Whatever it is, the vicious cycle will definitely keep going. Things will never change, college and university life will always involve sex, drugs and rock & roll with the associated accessories that come along with it. I'm just glad I made it out of that phase of life in one piece. No matter what can be said or done, I came through that phase unscathed and now it's time for a new phase of life. Which hopefully is more of 'peaceful ballads' and soothing music rather that rock & roll and all the add on's.

Here In My Home - Malaysian Artistes for Unity

Ambition Achieved!

Well, 2008 has been going along pretty well so far, i pray it keeps in this way.

Why you wonder, well here are a few good reasons :
  • General Elections shook things up nicely - told the government that we are a 'rakyat' striving for change and betterment.
  • Manchester United become Premiership and European Champions!! Woohoo...
  • I obtained my MBBS degree!! (this is the best of the lot so far!) That's right folks, I'm finally a doctor, after 5 long years, long hours of lecture classes that served no purpose, mugging up textbooks and trying to understand things that initially made no sense at all, I realised my ambition.
  • Besides all that, there are things to look forward too, am finally going to be getting my own car, will start working and making my own money. Its a new chapter in life... And, I am very excited.
So, there you go. Many things still to come. And we're almost at the halfway point. So fingers crossed, lets hope this trend continues.

p.s. I shall be back to blogging more often now since I have some spare time. Was on a hiatus for 2 months due to the exams and all. Stressful couple of months. Anyways, I shall fill u guys up on the exams and all in the coming posts, till then.. Keep having a Better Day!

A historic milestone for Malaysia. This generation will be remembered for standing up to a Goliath, and winning.

Well done Malaysia. A historic milestone. No doubt. This generation will be remembered for what we have accomplished. Standing up and denying a 2/3 majority to the ruling party. Unprecedented in our nation's history. Granted that there was many faults in the ruling party. But they have a proven track record, not perfect but proven nonetheless. Expecting 3 parties, all with different ideologies to work together is hard. But they have to do it if they want any chance of keeping this 'political tsunami' going in the next general elections.

Post-election 2008, the people have decided for a change. And I personally thing its about time. It is the wake up call our nation needed. The leaders, the people must see this and acknowledge it. A new nation must be born, one where there is no longer divisions along racial lines. We should no longer be known as Chinese, Malays or Indians. Chinese are those from China. Indians are those from India, and Malays from Indonesia and so on. We are from Malaysia, WE should be known as MALAYSIANS!

If the opposition, the new leaders of today and tomorrow, the new cabinet and the new parliament, the new ministers, deputy ministers even down to the citizens of this unique nation can instill this into the new generation, this general elections will be remembered for so many more reasons, better ones then denying BN its 2/3 majority.

General Elections 2012/2013 starts now. And when that day comes, it'll be very sad if we're still going on about corruptions and scandals that have rocked this elections. By then we must have matured, we must have moved on from these trials to bigger issues. Issues that no longer divide us based on race and corruption but issues that divide us as Malaysians against the rest of the world. 50 years is a long time. And make no mistake about it, we have come a long way. I stand in awe awaiting what the next 50 years holds in store. Hopefully, I'll be still alive to see it. I'd be 73. Hmm... Hopefully, I won't be cast into oblivion like one very long standing minister.

Better Days is upon us. We have it in our hands. Let us not waste it and wash it away. Let us move forward, let us move to greater heights. If we a nation, a multiracial nation of millions can vote for change, why can't an administration of hundreds make that change a reality? For Better Days in Malaysia. It has already begun...

Inspired By Life

yea.. it was last year when I last posted. For some reason or another, just lost interest. Recently I came across a few blogs written by MMMC students which was rather interesting, especially those written by those who had finished thier exams and were talkin about it (and going on about how they spend thier time drinking, buying toys and doing social service).

For the benefit of my faithful readers.. (
haha.. really doubt anyone reads this) I have linked some of my colleagues blogs under the heading Inspired By Life that you can see on the right side of the screen.

If you happen to be reading this and have come across other MMMC blogs that I do not knw off, and that you think is worthy of a mention pls do let me knw and I shall add it here.
