Malaysian Favourite!

Exams, exams, exams... Needed some humor for such a dull gloomy day!

When ordering the local favourite drink - a mixture of Horlicks, Milo, Coffee and Tea, just ask for 'LickMyKoTeh'

p.s. thanks to kuhan for that one!

I am out of ideas, out of words and out of thoughts. It's not that the head is empty, its just clogged up with so many things that I can't seem to streamline it and put it out in words. Writer's block? Don't know, maybe its a bloggers block...

It is difficult to esteem a man as highly as he would wish.
-Luc de Clapier de Vauvanargues-

I was lucky enough to meet 2 people I could talk to and share anything about life with. I felt sorry for those whom never got the chance to experience a friendship like I did. But life is never a bed of roses. We all have our likes and dislikes in a person. And it is the ability to accommodate these things that makes the friendship even more unique and in my opinion grow stronger and stronger.

I'll be honest with you, I'm not an easy guy. Too hard headed for most times but always sincere. My fault is that I trust to easily and hence easily get burned. I think everyone is like me and can be trusted and I do ever so readily. Maybe that's why I was lucky to meet 2 people that have changed my life forever. In more ways then one, for better or for worse but sadly not till death do us part.

I suppose they tried as hard as they could to make me into a better person. I can honestly tell you that I want to be a better person, for them but more so for myself. Who doesn't right? But sadly my 'conversion' takes longer then normal and people just don't have the time to wait. I was blessed with 2 great friends. And would like to think and hope there are many more out there who could be as much. But my worry is that they too will grow tired of me and all my excess baggage. I'm not easy I'll tell you that much, but I sincerely appreciate everything that people do.

I am never one to say that because I did so much during the friendship, you must give me back in equal amounts. I am glad beyond recognition for all that you both gave to me. I am devastated beyond reprieve that you feel I never appreciated it. I guess you are right to feel that I never gave back as much as you gave. But can you really put a price on friendship? Can you say that I 'owe' you because of all that you have done?

Friendship is a gift to be given without expecting anything in return. It is to be given freely to whomever you see fit, whenever you want. It should never be given with the hope of expecting equally in return or with the expectation of preferential treatment. If I made you feel bad, down or inadequate, if I never called on your birthday or times when you were depressed, if I never came running when you were in need, it was never intentional. All my friends, close or otherwise, even my enemies, if you are reading this, and if I have offended you in any way, know that it is never meant with any ill feelings. I appreciate all that you have done, and I know there is no way I can ever repay you. Which is why I am glad to call you my friend.

Some come into your life and leave after some time, Some come into your lives and you are never the same again.
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7)

I am 23 years old. I barely realised that I am out of my teens and now suddenly I have to grow up again and become a man. In about 8 months, God willing, I will have achieved my life long ambition to become a doctor. I hope I make it. I don't know how I got so far, but I thank God I have.

You will be surprised to know, how many friends I have made, how many friends I have lost and how many friends I thought were friends. I have made more enemies in my time here. Many more than most people make in their lifetimes.

Don't get me wrong. I am not a person on a mission to make enemies. No one wants that. Ask the man convicted of any wrong doings if he regretted what he has done, chances are that he wished he never had. If there is one thing I have learned in my 23 years of life, it is that no one likes a person who is blunt, brutally honest and plain up straightforward. People, subconsciously or otherwise, prefer a pretentious, "in your face nice guy, behind my back I don't give a damn what you say about me" kinda person.

Sadly, I am not the latter. Never have been and I seriously doubt ever will be. I cannot pretend to be best of friends with someone only to stab them in the back when they are not around. I am brutally honest, plain up straight forward. Hence the reason for my numerous misunderstandings and to a certain extent my enemies. I have no grudges against anyone. When I get whatever is on my chest off, to me it is all over and done with. I hold no remorse.

The worry here though, is that when I come out into the real world, will there be a place for a person like me? Aren't we all living a life of mockery and deceit, of judgements and prejudices? I have 8 months. In that time, I have more worries than ever before. Primarily is that of my finals coming up. And then some, with life and all that. I guess now is time for me to learn how to bite my tongue and hold me words back. Maybe we all can't accept the harsh, brutal realities of life. Maybe I must learn to change to not be so free in voicing my opinions. No two sides of the coin is ever the same. I guess at times you can speak your mind, most times you can't.

Stronger

Now, now, now, that don't kill me, can only make me stronger. I need you to hurry up now, cause I can't wait no longer. I know I got to be right now, cause I can't get much wronger. Man, I've been waiting all night now, thats how long I been on ya.

As life goes on, I'm starting to learn more and more about responsibility. And I realize that everything I do is affecting the people around me. I'd like to take this time to apologize for things I have done, and things that haven't occured yet. And things they don't want to take responsibility for. Even though the blames on you, I'll take that blame from you. And you can put that blame on me.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Game OVer?

Barely 2 games into the season and United's stuttering season has yet to get of to an explosive start. Obtaining 2 points out of 6 is by no means championship form. With all our rivals hitting the ground running collecting maximum points and Chelsea making it 6 points out of 6 last night, that eerie chill runs down your spine and you begin to wonder come season end how its gonna be.

Granted its a long season and 2 draws is much better then 2 defeats. But having said that, after splashing 60 million pounds in the close season, I really thought we'd have been smashing in the goals. We might have, I still feel, if the manager used those players. Season opener, none was used with Nani, (the least hyped of the lot) on the bench. Where is Anderson and Hargreaves? Last night same thing. Common sense would tell you that after spending that much of cash on them, they would at least be deserving of a place on the bench.

Honestly, I think the season is over for us. Well at least the Premiership is. But granted it is a long season. I want to hope for the best but can't help thinking of the worse. Hopefully we'll finish second and win the FA Cup and the Champions League. That wouldn't be so bad now would it?

Watch your thoughts,
they become Words.

Watch your words,
they become Actions,

Watch your actions,
they become Habits,

Watch your habits,
they become your Character.

Watch your Character,
It becomes your Destiny.

Thus the above summarizes why I always end up in shit. I say, then I do, which makes me always do till what I do becomes me.

Negaraku

Just when I was saying we had come a long way in 50 years, but felt that we really lacked being Malaysian this has to happen. So much for my hope of better days.

It's not the clip that's got my attention but the comments by those who have viewed this clip that I think is the real problem. Why are we getting all uptight over this clip? Common, we should be more matured and not let some silly individual interpretation of our national anthem divide us. After all, the 'composer' himself has said he did not mean to insult anyone.

I honestly think its just hilarious. As a matter of fact, I'll put it up here... Really, its nothing. Lets be mature about it and not let such trivial things get between us being Malaysian.

The parody of our national anthem which has got everyone "tickled"
-Vision without a Mission-

About 7 months to go. I'm about as prepared as that. She said it right. I have the vision but no mission to achieve that mission.

I wonder how it's like in other medical schools... Better still, I wonder how it's like in other groups. Maybe its the individual. The inner drive and motivation which I clearly lack.

Talk about a bad time to lose that drive. Fuck.

Better Days?

50 years have come and gone. How far have we come? Have we moved forwards or backwards as a nation?

Sure, we have built skyscrapers, had the tallest building in the world, made a fantastic new airport, developed lands, improved quality of lives for millions, opened up education centres which even attract overseas students, produced our own national care. The list could go own and on. But really, how far have we come, as one nation?

We are the envy of millions, a multiracial society living in harmony. We have Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs... 50 years ago we lived against one enemy. Our lands were invaded by the British. It was then that we bonded as one, as Malaysians, not as a Malay or Chinese or Indian, but as a Malaysian and succeeded in obtaining our independence.

But as those years have gone by, we have begun to forget about our history. About being Malaysian. We are more engrossed in 'waving our keris and using our keris', we are more into who is Muslim and who is not. What happened to being Malaysian?

Below is a clip I received in an email. I did not know about this issue until then. I was shocked to know that such things do go on in our country. It is not meant to fan the flames, I am a firm believer that religion should bring peace and harmony to one and all and not cause conflict. I believe that one should be free to choose. I am proud to be Malaysian.

It is time for a change. It is time for a new independence. As the big '5-0' approaches let us strive to achieve this. Let us strive to be 'MALAYSIANS' again.

Snake Attack!

Like any other long day that was coming to an end, yesterday seemed like a dull gloomy day. Furthermore with all the rain, it just made you wanna sleep in all day. As it is the durian season now, we deceded to buy a few fruits and come enjoy them at home, outside, in the garden. That was until we saw IT...

(hope you guys can see it in the picture, I turned the flash off as I didnt wanna scare the bugger, or more like I didn't want it running about scaring us!)

Then we called the bomba, thinking of sparing him his life... Poor little baby snake. But then the bugger started running away. I couldn't have slept well knowing a snake is loose around the place. He tried running away and we had to hit it with a hockey stick. Poor little baby python (i think?)

GRAPHIC CONTENT BELOW. VIEWVER DISCRRETION IS ADVISED!

We never meant to kill it. I swear. I'm totally not for cruelty to animals, but it was for our safety that we did what we did. If not would we have even bothered callin the Bomba? 6 guys living in a house and for a 3 feet snake we called the fire brigade! They were equally amused by our lack of bravery. But it was safety first more than anything. And also we aren't murderers, we genuinely wanted to have it taken away alive.

Well I guess this is somethin that we'll never forget. It really was a memorable experience. I feel like I'm living in a wild life park. We see monitor lizards walking around the place all the time. All I need now is to see a tiger or something coming out from that jungle next to my house... AHHH! Hope that doesn't happen anytime soon...

10 requirements to being a lousy Surgeon

1. Arrogance

2. Ability to insult undergraduates

3. Ego the size of a football field (at the very least)

4. Ability to keep your students waiting for hours

5. Pass derogatory remarks about students upbringing

6. Always imply that your field is superior to that of any other physician

7. Cannot accept being wrong

8. Speak in a loud tone so everyone knows you are a surgeon and a lecturer, and your students
are useless

9. Brag about your time of study or your acheivements

10. Always assume that your students aren't spending time in the wards or the OT

If you are a surgeon, or your surgery lecturer has 5 out of this, it fulfills micah's criteria to label him/her a lousy surgeon cum lecturer. (Empty vessels make the most noise no?) .

To be a great surgeon, you should have none of this.

Congratulations?!!

Well its been well documented by now... Pak Lah is hookin up again.. gettin down and jiggy with it! You go Pak Lah... Malaysia Boleh!... Semua Boleh!!

Age is not a barrier to our dearest Pak Lah, he has shown what a dedicated leader he is, settin the example for fellow malaysians! A perfect family must consist of a father, children and a mother (replaceable!).

In a time when roof's are leaking and 'parliment members are leaking' (no offence here, just pointing out some things), Pak Lah still has all the time to sort out family matters... Well I guess he's got a good Works Minister, well experienced and all..

Bet those leaks are gonna be sorted out in no time! Samy is there...

Oh god.. the circus truly has come to town... Somebody pls bring back Dr. M...

Longest 2 weeks

Its finally coming to an end... Well not entirely but somewhat.

wake up 6.30 am.. ---- In the hospital by 7am. --- Have lunch frm 12.30 - 2. --- back in coll till 3.30pm. --- have a nap frm 4-5.30pm (would be dead if i didnt, but, most times i dont get that nap, so much case writeups and reading to do) --- back in hospital by 6.30pm till 11pm --- dinner at the same crappy hawker stall (crawling with cats, rats and what not!) back in room by 12/12.30am. --- shower --- sleep.

You WILL walk alone in Athens!

This is the post-match text msgs I had with a Liverfool.. oops sorry, Liverpool supporter after we got knocked out against Milan.

J : The best team won.. Forza Milan.. Better luck next time

-micah- : No doubt.. Should be a good final. You'll need luck for tht I guess, so all the best

J : Nah doubt it.. Mascherano n alonso can stop kaka n seedorf.. They have no
sheva n crespo

-micah- : Yea.. Your right. Congrats in advance then..! (totally irritated by now!!!)

J : Thanks.. Better luck next year for 'SIR' alex

This is what I told him after they beat Chelsea to sneak into the finals:

-micah- : Congrats man! U guys deserved to win. Hopefully we are as lucky tom..

J : We were not lucky. We deserve it.. Thanks anyway.. Good luck

......... My point is, this is why they'll never win. Over confidence and arrogance! Having said that I just read Gennaro 'Manic' Gattuso claiming that the kops are long ball players and have outdated tactics. I'm not gonna disagree but why can't he just play and whoop their arses back to anfield. He did say though that United were the better side. Now that I have to agree! haha.. Forza Milan alright!!
For once I was supporting Chelsea, cos I just knew the Liverpool supporters would say something like that. Well I guess come May 23rd you'll know who I'm gonna be supporting!

Micah's Anatomy anyone?

I've always wondered if real medical life is anywhere as amusing, entertaining and emotionally wrenching as all those TV series out there (e.g. Grey's Anatomy, Dr. House M.D., ER and so on and so forth).
One thing i know for sure, we ain't got no CSI in this country. So being a medical student myself, I always wondered how accurate the depiction of all these series are. We'll if my last couple of weeks are anything to go by, boy oh boy there ain't no Gregory House out there! I really wish some local director makes a series on the medical student scene from the Malaysian Asian perspective. That would be something we all could relate too. Of course your prescribed dose of romance would be a very important necessity if its gonna go anywhere to dislodge current favourites, but its well worth a try!
Mind you I'm speaking from the Asian perspective, I really don't know how the Western world operates. I want to believe that their methods are different from ours, but currently i don't know.
I am currently having my medical attachment at one of the private medical centre's in the Klang Valley. Its hectic I must say. 8 am till 5ish pm i'm practically running behind my consultant. How they have been doing it for years amazes me.
I really think its down the sheer motivation and dedication. I mean you say practically the same thing 20 times a day 365 times a year. Do the math on that if you've been in the field for 20 odd years. Unbelievable.
Well I'm a year away from achieving my lifelong ambition. I know its not gonna be easy but this clinical attachment has freshened me up a bit. That wake up call I've been searching for all the while I think I've found it.
Motivation and dedication, to do what you do for the next 30 years. How well you can do it decides how great a doctor you will be. Lets hope I have it in the bucket loads!

haha... how about that?

Got this in the mail from a friend... Unbelievable! How true only God knows!!

Went back home just this past weekend, for a break from all the hustle and bustle here, only to wish I never did...

Don't get me wrong, I love going home to friends, family, food and dry cleaning but the damn thieves stole my shoes!!! My TIMBERLAND boots! AARRrrrggghhhhh....

Those buggers don't need to sleep la I think, (I believe it was just one, as the neighbours maid said she saw one guy jumping over the wall) they came at 6.30am Saturday. Bloody hell... They ransacked the whole damn shoe rack (its kept outside btw, so no they didn't break in) and they got off with some like 10 pairs of shoes. They even took my fucking Timberland's which cost like 650 odd bucks. Curse those motherfuckers!! (don't mind the pun).

Best part was after they took all those shoes, they came back the next morning! What is wrong with them wei! Do I look like I'm gonna be buying another 10 pairs of shoes in a day, and even if I did, do I look that stupid to put them out again... God bless that rotten thief. Hope he lives in hell...

Anyways, I've decided I need to get a guard dog, to bite the living daylights outta asses of such people should they ever decide to come into my compound again.
If anyone out there knows where I can get a good doggy pls do let me know aight... Thanks!

300

WOW!! One word to describe how I felt after the movie. For a minute I was thinking of walking into the next showing of the movie. Rarely has a movie left that effect on me. It was a spectacle, the entire thing. Truly a memorable movie.

The graphics were incredible and the action in the movie was non-stop. Hell, even the girls liked the movie! (although I cannot say for certain if it was because of the Spartans dressing or their bodies.. heh..)

I think the actors, although mostly, if not completely unknowns pulled of the task admirably well, and this to while filming the entire screen behind a blue backdrop:

From what I've heard, this is a relatively new comic production, a myth of how 300 Spartan men, elite fighters, trained and brought up solely for battle defended their land against the Persians. It is absolutely jaw-dropping cinematography.
I'm not one for all this movies like Lord of the Rings and all, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Hell, there were folks clapping during the movie! I really thought something was wrong with them, but it just goes to show they too were enjoying it as was I.
There was even some good lines in the movie, lines which are bound to get you laughing your guts out, surprising for a movie like this.
Overall, some say its a cross between Gladiator and Lord of the Rings. I strongly feel it isn't. It a truly entertaining, adrenalin pumping, action packed movie with incredible scenes. Truly worth watching it on the big screen. Trust me folks, this is so much more worth watching in the cinema then it is buying the pirated DVDs at your mamak stalls. Go enjoy it, I doubt there will be a movie this good anytime soon...

Oh God

Hello to all my dedicated readers. If there is anyone reading this in the first place... Am just waiting for epi 18 of heroes to get done with so decided to kill some time (knowing well enough that I should be studying, dammit how will I ever make it at this rate!??)
Went to church just this past Saturday, as I always do. Decided to go to the Church of the Divine Mercy as mass was earlier so it would enable me to catch the oh so awesome Man. Utd. beat Liverfool's ass in Anfield. Poor sods had to sing 'you'll never walk alone' after dominating most of the game. What a beautiful sport this is! (esp. when you beat title pretenders!)
So as I was saying, went for mass, the church is beautiful and its air-conditioned! And the priest 'was' good, until he decided to make his sermon into some political speech. I think he's trying to keep up with Fr. O.C. Lim. But that's gonna take a bit of doing!
He started talking about all this Free Trade Area and what not with the US. Started encouraging us to write against it and all. I mean is it necessary? Do we really want to start getting involved in all this? What ever happened to praying for peace and all? Praying for leaders to be able to decide whats best for us? Is it necessary to take all this political agenda's into the house of God? We come there to get away from all this, not to be dragged into this!!
I really think priest's must now the impact they have on society when they take on such sensitive issues. Fr. O.C. Lim takes things to another level. Using Muslim words and embedding them into our prayers, what for?! I wish he would read this. I am sure I am not the only one disgusted by this behaviour. We portray what our God is. By doing such things, are we portraying our God to be one of hatred towards another man's religion and race? I bet you these priests will say they never said anything that meant it in that way. But the problem is people tend to misinterpret these things, especially when it is said at such sensitive times.
If it does not drive parishioners away, it will instigate them wit hatred and anger towards men or other religious beliefs. Do we really want this now? At this age and time? I think not. I plead and pray that these priests behave more 'priestly' and thread with caution when it comes to such sensitive issues such as religion and race. We are a young community, easily influenced by what is said and what we see. And those who are to shape us into future leaders on our country please shape us well.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

But when the player gets dirty, what do you do? Sometimes I wonder, why can't people just learn to live their own lives, why do people get involved and mess other people's lives up. People who give them a chance to make what they made wrong right. IF your life is fucked up, do not do the same to others. There should be a line in all of us that is visible to the outside world. It should be a line you should never cross. We should also carry a book to be read by all whom we meet about who we really are. At least that way, the foolish ones get a chance to know the real person inside, not some concoction made with a little sugar and spice and everything nice.
I strongly disagree with the saying keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Dammit, it should read keep your enemies close but your friends closer, and this is for the good and the bad. Don't we all agree? How many times have you had your feet stepped on by those whom know you best? Doesn't it sting just a little bit more? I say bollocks to all you out there who put yourself ahead. Happy are you when your time comes.
What is done is done. Let it rest. The tussle of conscience is a battle that rages on for a lifetime. It hurts more then a slap on the face, more then a stab in the back and definitely more then a bruised reputation. It will haunt you for all eternity. For trust is a priceless gift shared between two people. When you give your word, when you ask someone to trust you, you are making a deal with the devil. Under no circumstance should you allow your self worth, self pride and self prejudice get the better of you.
Confabulation, now that's a whole different ball game. You confabulate because you never were anything, never was anyone and never had anyone. You burnt the bridges as fast as, if not faster then when you built it. And where does that leave you, with the scaffolding that was there when you were building those bridges? You'd be lucky if it was. Chances are you burnt all the bridges that connected your 'island' with others. Believe you me, their bridges are still there, only problem is, it is not connected to your island. Live on your own, survive on your own if you may. You are a cast away. Forsaken by those who cared for you, who would have stood up for you and would have been by your side through the ups and downs life presents us with. You want to believe there are others out there who would do the same, but all that remains are the charred remains of your burnt bridges. Thread them carefully, one wrong turn could spell the end of your journey. And that would make the world a better place.
You know who you are, for that little creepiness you felt while reading this emphasises you have strayed away from your deal. You become that pariah, that outcast, that loner that can never be again, a leper cast aside and away from sight. It was your decision to make, your price to pay and your burden to carry.
"Forgive sounds good, but forget, I'm not sure I could. They say time heals everything so I'm still waiting. But get one thing right, I'm not ready to make nice, I'm not ready to back down and I'm still mad as hell. It's too late to make it right and I probably wouldn't if I could, cause I'm mad as hell but I can't bring myself to do what it is I think I should."

Wishful thinking

Feb. 22, 2007 (pretty much the story of my life)

- woke up at 7.10 am, showered, brushed teeth ironed a shirt and ran for class.
- got onto the bus by 7.40, passed out for an hour.
-reached Muar at 8.40, bummed around till class started at 10.30.
- stood in the ward, dripping with sweat, in the sweltering heat till 12.00pm
- was told there was no class in the afternoon, travelled back (another hour) had lunch
- nicely tucked in bed by 2.30pm, woke up at 5pm and went to play badminton
- life after this is mostly bumming around doing nothing, sleeping, TV, computer, studying and passing out by 1 - 2 am.
Tomorrow the cycle will continue, pretty much in the same way. I honestly feel I waste more then half the day doing nothing. Is it because I am lazy or is there a defect in the system?
I would like to think it is the latter.
Hopefully one day it will change, the system, made better by those like me who go through it day in and day out for 5 odd years. It is time for the powers that be in this field to structure the system for the modern student. There are too many distractions present today then there was merely 5 years ago.
The course must work the student, not the student working the course. But will that ever be a reality? I highly doubt it. It is a dog eat dog world out there, and only the fittest will survive.
We have to work the course. This is MMMC.

If only...

I wonder why people act the way they do. That was a statement not a question. Its always the matter of assumption. They assume so they think it so. Imbeciles...
The people I know can be so fake, it makes Chow Kit look like Star Hill. I tell you, one minute they are superfine and within the blink of an eye, they are like Haji Taib hores.. ha ha.. (you gotta laugh at that one!)
If only they stop assuming and start asking to be sure. Its so easy for them to think you want to do something else instead of hang with them. And they are supposed to be your friends.
I'm angry, I'm disappointed, I'm baffled. But I expected it.
THEY show who they are and where they are from, just by the way they act and talk. I wonder if they will do justice to their profession tomorrow when they come out as white collar professionals, or will their origins get the better of them. As the saying goes, you can take the nigger out of the ghetto, but you can never take the ghetto out of the nigger. (this was not meant as a racist remark)
Moral of the story: NEVER assume, always ASK.
However, you can only bring the horse to the water, no way you can make it drink the water. Therefore I think I'm gonna start living by that 90/10 rule, (thanks mesh). 90% of things are in your control and you can decide the outcome based on your actions and reactions. Only 10% is out of your control, like natural disasters for example. Hence, if only we all lived by that 90/10 way. The world would be a better place, for people who are sane. For those nut jobs out there, ain't nothing gonna change a damn thing. :P Remember, I'm angry, disappointed and baffled.
My true friends out there, you know who you are, let this pass, it wasn't meant for you. But those who fit this criteria, who felt like the story hit a little spot, do something about it, make the world a better place, we all want Better Days...

Would you be my Valentine?

Happy Valentine's Day to all those reading this. And if you're single and ready to mingle, Happy Single's Awareness Day! Damm.. Feb 14th used to be a day for all these florists and card makers to make a quick buck and con those love struck couples out of their money, now they've gone and made it a single's awareness day too. Soon there'll be cards out there wishing you a partner next Valentine's. Haha! You guys ain't leaving no one out eh!?
Anyways, was just sitting around doin nothing (after watching 'Scarface' which mind you is a totally awesome movie, wish I saw it earlier!) when I started thinking about this Mr. Valentine. So I 'googled' it only to see numerous different stories about 'St. Valentine.' Oh yea, he's a saint by the way, martyred by the Catholic Church. If its the same guy here that we are talking about I really don't know.
All I do know is that Hallmark and Memory Lane are making a bucket load of cash over this period. It seems that the number of cards sent on Valentine's is second only to Christmas (info courtesy of the ever reliable wikepedia!). Wonder how come St. Michael or St. Peter's day don't have this many cards, if any, going around. I mean, one is the defender of satan, a powerful archangel and the other one stands at the gates of heaven, deciding who gets in and not, but its Mr. Valentine that gets all the attention... Well I guess love conquers all.
So yea, now I'm sittin here thinkin what to do tonight. Thank god I'm going out with a princess who is not as sappy as those hopeless romantics out there and just enjoys the thought of spending the day with me. If only you all were so lucky huh! But still, that weight of expectancy is there, sometimes you just wanna do something different and today is that excuse. So go out and spend some extra 'moolah' on your loved ones cos hey, a little spice in the relationship could never hurt!
p.s. for those of you who wanna know more about this 'Valentines's Day' con you should click here, such a romantic story for a romantic occasion!
Anyways, to all my readers in relationships, Happy Valentine's, and you single folks, Happy Single's Awareness Day. (maybe next year eh!)

You gotta be kiddin me!

Males allowed to view female athletes who are decently clad: Perlis Mufti

Was just trying to catch up with the news after a long day at class, when I came across this article on the Star. I didn't know if I should cry or laugh. I honestly feel this is one of the major reasons why a Muslim country can never be as great as our Western countries.

Don't get me wrong, we are trying very hard to get there and if recent developments are anything to go by, you know, buying of our very own 'Air Force One' and all, I'd say a couple more years (God, I can be sooo sarcastic at times), we'd be there. But such atrocities can only throw us back light years!

Imagine one day, if we host the Olympics or the Women's World Cup, what then?!?! If females are taking part, only female supporters are to be allowed? Common you guys, grow up, looking at a human being taking part in sports is really not gonna 'arouse' us okay. It just goes to show the mentality of certain people leading this country. First one 'dunggu' yells about waving a keris and threatening to use the keris, and now another 'kuku' fella says watching female athletes is gonna arouse us. We can sooo forget about having the Woman's ATP here, imagine Sharapova in those mini skirts yelling ooh and aah, goodness, those men in Kota Baru might just wet themselves.

Its times like this a dominant leader must come out and speak for a multinational country. He or she must show that we are a race and a society where we are mature enough to know how to behave. Speaking and acting like this screams out the fact that we are hormone charged individuals, still in the stone age unable to act like mature, modern humans of the 21st century. Where is that leader, is there one for us? I guess Dr. M, you are sorely being missed in times like this, and your 'dilemma' that once sparked so much controversy still is very much a dilemma.

God's grace be upon our beloved motherland. In times like this, we really need all we can get.

Not Bad Eh?

How about this for entertainment, aren't we humans just amazing? I think we're simply awesome...

Speed limited..

Ever wonder why the government makes 3 lane highways, allows us to drive the Volvo's, BMW's and Porsche's but keeps the speed limit to a meagre 110km/hr?
I can only wonder. Was just thinking about it because I got 2 speeding tickets sent home recently. I was driving at 140 and 130ish... I mean if the car can take, the road can hold it and the driver can do it, what in God's name is holding them back from allowing us the speed? Set la the speed limit to 140.. hehehe.... Pushing it la I know, but I mean common, much safer cars these days.
But I guess they are thinking about our pride and joy, our country's national car. The bloody tin can would probably disintegrate at 120km/hr! Oh hell, the company is going bankrupt already, so shut the whole thing down and take away those stupid taxes so we can get something worth our money. Speed limited no more!!

Glory Glory Man Utd!

AAH.. what a game, might have started of poorly but United showed their value for being champions this season with an emphatic victory. It made staying up late for the game worthwhile. Goals from Ronaldo, Vidic, Scholes and Giggs ensured that the Red Devils kept their 6 point lead over Chelsea.

Final score, Spurs 0, Manchester United 4...

Glory Glory Man. United!!! Looking good to be champions for the season... (fingers crossed), hope I didn't jinx them!

Shoot Out at Subang Parade

! VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED !

WTF!! Seriously... Officially concluded now that there is no place safe. If a little place like Subang could be filled with such sinister acts, one can only be worried. I mean, this mall is like the only place parents wouldn't worry if their kids were hanging out at, but just look at what happened last night. Its just so sad I tell you. No where is safe anymore. Pics shown below are taken from http://www.kimhooi.blogspot.com/ :

-one of the shot guards, fainted -
-dead robber, with gun and empty shells-
- security guard shot in the head-
I hope I have not offended the viewers by placing such pictures on this blog. Just to show you all how real this is. It is really unbelievable. I cannot imagine such a thing actually taking place. Imagine if I was there. God bless those dead.
The Star newspaper reported that police have managed to arrest the people involved in this. It seems the tip was from a hotel key card in the dead robbers jacket. They were arrested at a 5 star hotel.

Bored

Its a sunny Sunday. Haih.. But it's never a relaxing one these days. Everyday, wake up telling myself today is a good day to start studying but it just never seems to happen.
Well, I better start sooner rather then later, got a practical exam this Tuesday. And look at what I'm doing... I'm so lazy and bored that I actually found a picture (given by a cousin of course :P) on 'tetris graffiti' haha!
Looks like there are people out there who are worse off then I am.. yay!
Well I better get to that studying... Tuesday is too near for comfort. Well at least there is the United game to look forward too...

MONUmental

Been about 2 days since my last post. Just gotten over the hangover from the Reshmonu concert/album launch. For a Malaysian artist, I must say this man has set the bar high for all those up and coming artistes. Of course it wasn't as incredible as the last concert i went for, PCD (yes yes, the pussycat dolls, couldn't help it, nicole is just too hot! haha..) but for a local artist, he's just set the standard pretty high. He's good entertainment, and fun to watch. Probably he needs a couple more hits to got with 'Hey Waley' and 'Superfine.' Aside for the funky hairdo and awkward costume, it was fun, with Kieran and Arvinder in the band for 'Hey Waley' it was nice to watch.
The only drawback to the whole thing was the fact that I went for it only because I won the hitzFM VIP invites, and the manner in which I was treated by the crew was disgraceful to put it nicely. The hitzFM crew can be quite the cocky buggers I tell you. Anyways, I'm not gonna let that spoil what otherwise was a fun night. And after such a greulling 2 hour show and hanging around for the after party, Reshmonu was more than ready to allow us a couple of minutes to snap a few pics with him. Very friendly of him, unlike the hitzFM buggers.
All in all, well done to him, for a good performance. I guess in addition to the free concert, the free flow of food and drinks while waiting for him to get going added to the excitement. Well done Reshmonu, it was a monumental performance, and you are truly a superfine gentleman. All the best for your album and hoping to hear more from it soon. Now if only if we could get the album for free as well... haih.. Malaysians...

Interesting Facts bout McD's

Was at McD's the other day when I noticed this booklet with loads of interesting things in it. But what caught my attention has to be the article on McD's safety practices in Malaysia. I don't know if they are serious about it or not but if they are well done to them, if not its a joke I tell you!
One of the interesting 'safety' practices in it is the first one, McD's managers and crew wash their hand every hour with Anti-Microbial Handwash... :)
I really don't know how true this it, but seriously, next time you're down in the golden arches, make sure to grab this booklet and read it up. The very least is that you're gonna have a couple of good laughs! Maybe, if I'm bored enough I should spend a whole day there checking these claims out.
Good times, great taste!... and some hilarious but good safety measures!!

'Air Force One"

I don't know how true this is, but, if any of this is true, it is an utter disgrace. Our beloved Prime Minister, Pak Lah, has supposedly bought a plane. This is after he was said to have ordered a yacht. I'm not saying he bought it for his own use, no, please do not misunderstand me, the last thing I want is to be sued for what was it again, freedom without responsibility, anarchy, no no, it was for being irresponsible.
Our Air Force One is a 'VIP' plane, for those 'fellows'. I wonder would you and me ever step onto it? Would they use it to rescue those flood victims? I guess only time will tell. But it's the tax-payer's money that is being used to purchase it I'm guessing.
Someone also was supposed to have allocated a certain amount of 'moolah' to improve his alma-mater. All this while numerous schools were flooding in Johor. Well, if the alma-mater provided so much of intelligence to those from there, for e.g. like how to be a spend thrift, who are we to complain. Hell, your kid, if educated there, and well enough, might rule some country and buy his own space shuttle one day!
I worry what state my country will be when we celebrate our 100 years of independence. I might be alive to see it, but if the half way marker is anything to go buy, I can only wonder worriedly.
Ronald Reagan, a great leader, once said:
If we love our country, we will also love our countrymen.
I wonder if that meant helping those whose homes were flooding, future generations that were missing out on a sound knowledge, and spending taxpayers money wisely.
Or maybe I'm just a frustrated adolescent, wondering what all these adults are doing, being so ignorant to the world around them. Maybe one day I will understand better, but until that day just know that this is not anarchy, this is not irresponsibility or freedom without responsibility, this is for a better tomorrow, for a better day.

Bloggers United

This country never fails to amuse me. What is all that talk about freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of what not... I guess its all 'tokkok' when you can't even be free to write and say what you feel.
As Marina Mahatir so rightly said,
"We may not all agree with everything they say but that is not the point. The point is, this sort of heavyhanded intimidation is an impediment to democracy because it impedes freedom of speech and limits our people's access to alternative views about current events. It insults all of us because it assumes that we cannot come up with the 'right' opinion if we are allowed to see all the different perspectives on a particular subject. It is a blatant form of censorship."
Hang in there rocky and jeff. You have my support.

I'm BACK!

haha.. wassup folks.. been a bit since I posted here. Its been a busy couple of days, but I'm here now. It's been the same 'ol same 'ol thingy going on. Life is really so boring. But then again, thats life.

Ooo.. guess what! I just won 2 tickets to go watch Reshmonu's Album Launch at LAUNDRY, Damansara. I actually called in to hitz fm and for once I managed to get through. Hmm.. maybe he isn't so big or I just called at the right time. Anyways, I got the VIP invites, so folks, if anyone out there wants a ticket, hehe.. You know where you gotta go to get 'em.

Incredible

My weekend all in all was incredible. For very contrasting reasons... Pure excitement followed by utter disappointment. Point in case:

1. Played hockey in the Malacca Open that featured S. Kuhan, Chua Boon Huat and Roslan, for those who don't know them they are our, or at least were our national hockey players. Many other new Malaysian team players were there as well, sadly I didn't get their names. The experience was incredible.

2. Watched Arsenal vs. Man. Utd. Final score 2-1. United opened the scoring with Wayne Rooney finally scoring a goal. In the last 10 minutes "Arse"nal scored 2. With captain Henry scoring in the freaking 94th minute. The experience was incredible. (I'm a Man. Utd. supporter, and always will be.)

Hopefully, next weekend won't be as taxing. But nonetheless I'm hoping United are champions come May. Glory Glory Man. Utd.!!

Not up to the mark? I think not...

Probe on med colleges (below are excerpts from The Star publication.)

PUTRAJAYA: Two private medical colleges are under investigation ... The colleges are believed to be taking in too many students and not providing adequate training for them ... the ministry found the lecturer-student ratio to be 1:20 when ideally it should be one to between six and eight ... “While Universiti Malaya alone is churning out about 200 students each year, these private colleges, which have been operating less than 10 years and have produced 300 students,” ... after a dialogue session with some 400 final year medical students from Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Universiti Putra Malaysia at the ministry here yesterday... there was no full-time lecturer at the colleges ...“We can even check on the quality of the clinical training overseas.” ... however, the students would not be affected when this happened as they would be enrolled in other colleges.

Couldn't help but get all excited after reading this. Coming from a medical college myself, (which one I'd rather not say) you can imagine the 'hoo ha' going on when The Star published such a 'sensational' story. What I am wondering is didn't the ministry already know how many students these colleges were taking in per year already? And maybe they have 2 intakes a year? 120 each intake would mean about 240 students graduating each year.

Regarding the student-lecturer ratio, I have to wonder, what in god's name were the LAN people (Lembaga Akreditasi Negara) doing when they come around inspecting these colleges. Having a mighty good holiday is my guess. But from what I hear, my prestigious (snickering) medical college has a ratio of 1:8 when you include the part time lecturers.

Why I am so sure (eyes rolling, looking up into the heavens!) that this cannot be my college is that I'd bet my life on it that we have full time lecturers working here. You guys should follow us into the hospitals to see the shelling we can collect from them if we aren't prepared well enough. Maybe because these lecturers are on a contract basis that they aren't considered full-time. I must admit I'm not to sure about this.

Finally, what is most annoying is that all the local universities were represented but why weren't the private universities allowed to be represented, at least giving us a chance to defend ourselves?! One can only wonder. Maybe its just a personal vendetta against us. Already they are given free education, we have to pay for ours, please just give us a break. Worry about those studying in Russia, or Indonesia, or wherever.

If they think we're a spoilt bunch of rich kids taking daddy's money to pay our way towards becoming a doctor please think again. It's hard work folks, exams and studying 24-7. And common lets be honest, I'm not saying that all graduates from my college or other private colleges are excellent, but hell, even the local universities can't boast that. There is definitely variations, different levels and standards among students. Nobody, definitely not everybody can be excellent.

Hell, even if the publication was true, we'd hopefully get placed elsewhere... Hmm.. Always wanted to do medicine in Ireland, Royal College... Ha ha... Wishful thinking...

Elegance

Its like being in love all over again! haha.. If looks are anything to go by, I think Apple Inc. (formerly known as Apple Computers Inc.) have hit the nail smack centre in the head.
I'm wondering why I jumped in so early and bought my HP iPAQ 6828, (no doubt it works well, minus the occasional crashes which seems to be happening more often these days) because from the reviews, it seems pretty much the same price as I payed for my pocket pc.
Apple and Steve Jobs has always had the knack of making the most beautiful electrical gizmo's I've seen, right from the iMac to the iPod and now the iPhone. However having said that, the Apple OsX that the iPhone is going to be running on, will not allow third party software to be installed onto it, only those made by Apple, unlike your Windows Mobile system that allows the above. But I can bet a million bucks that the iPhone is gonna be so much more stable then those Pocket PCs.
Well I guess time will tell, as the iPhone only reaches our shores in 2008, that gives lots of time for hackers out there to do their jobs. And maybe, just maybe, by the time it gets here, it'll be giving me serious thoughts about chucking my lovely, easily configurable iPAQ for another 'i.' Well at least I'll still be 'I.'

Bed of Roses

Jon Bon Jovi had a song bed of roses didn't they? I think it had a line that sounded like this:
"I wanna lay down in a bed of roses, cos tonight I sleep on a bed of nails..."
COuld it be he was going through what I have been goin through? Pain. Maybe so, but I can never know for sure.
I'm realizing more and more... I'm an outcast.. Alone in this journey. No one to depend on.. No one that would stand by my side. Who do i turn to in times of need? Where do I run to when i want to hide away from all this? All i have and believe in is my family. I know i can count on them, no matter what.. And for that alone I am so blessed.. But don't we all just wish that life could be a bed of roses?

Life.. A box of Chocolates?

Forrest Gump once famously said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.." I couldn't agree more with him.
Chocolate in today's world should more specifically be people.. You think you know them all your life, but they never fail to surprise you. This is to better days, better friends, for greater hopes, and wishful thinking.. Always remember, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Believe you me, friends are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.
I'm learning it the hard way...
